Let’s be frank about these ballparks

September 9th, 2009 · No Comments

Let’s be frank about these ballparks – MLB News – FOX Sports on MSN

I’ve been to three of the four parks discussed in this article (haven’t been to Citi Field) and by far the worst is Tropicana Field.  Not even close.  Rangers Ballpark could use a retractable roof, otherwise, it’s a beautiful stadium.  And Wrigley may have something to do with the Cubs performance, but the atmosphere is great and fun.

But there is nothing fun about seeing a game at Tropicana.  It’s in a bad part of town, and the stadium has been under par since day one.  The only good thing is that you get to see your favorite team play there a few times a year if you’re an AL fan..

“Phineas & Ferb” serve up a September to remember

Jim Hill : “Phineas & Ferb” serve up a September to remember

Phineas & Ferb is a favorite around our house these days.  But it’s not just Megan who’s a fan; Tammy and I both really like the show as well.  It’s very clever, and it has something for kids and adults alike.  There are many pop culture references like in Family Guy, but obviously not as “raw.”

It’s a cute show, and I recommend checking it out, even if you don’t have kids in the house..

Disney to Acquire Marvel Entertainment

Disney to Acquire Marvel Entertainment – MarketWatch

UNREAL!!!  I am completely floored by this, but I think it’s a great acquisition.  The biggest question that comes to my mind is what happens to Islands of Adventure’s Marvel section and their Spiderman ride?  The Hulk coaster and Dr. Doom’s Fall and everything else in the land can be rethemed, but Spiderman will be tough.  Maybe Disney will have to let the Marvel land stay at IOA as part of the merger in order to pass regulatory requirements and just collect license fees from Universal.  I tend to think that’s unlikely, since Disney is the leader in synergy and they’ll want Marvel to be at the Disney parks–or at least NOT at Universal’s parks.

I’m still in shock..

Milky, the Marvelous Milking Cow

I remember these commercials.  Even as a kid who wanted every toy ever made, I didn’t want this.  Who bought this?  And it was from Kenner, a major toy company.  The ’70s were a wild and fun time..

Disney Dream Begins to Take Shape

Disney Dream Begins to Take Shape

There are a few cool pictures of the coin and the Keel Laying with this article.

It’s been five and a half years since Tammy and I have been on a Disney Cruise.  Both cruises that we’ve taken were the best vacations that we’ve had together.  It’s sad to see that our ship, the Disney Wonder, will be moving to Los Angeles when the Disney Dream is finished.  But, it would be nice to take a trip on one of these new ships one of these days..

Green Day delivered a tour de force at the New Orleans Arena – NOLA.com

This was an incredible show!  Tammy and I had a blast.  They played for over 2 1/2 hours, and it was high-energy the entire time.  Everyone stood the whole time.  We were getting tired just watching them.  Great songs, great fun.  If you have a chance to see Green Day play live, go see them..

The Washington Monthly

Wow.  Really?  No wonder the South has such a hard time getting rid of its stereotype that it’s uneducated.

Also:  ‘Birthers’ must be stopped.
