I am SO looking forward to this movie.  I like the fact that they’re going to use real sets instead of all CGI..

Walt Disney World’s Space Mountain closing for ‘refreshment’ on April 19 — OrlandoSentinel.com

Glad I rode it one last time before it goes down for “refreshment.”  Hopefully the changes will be somewhat on par with what was done in Disneyland’s Space Mountain.  It sounds like the changes won’t be as extensive, but hopefully it will “plus” it..

Hard Lessons in the Importance of Backups: JournalSpace Wiped Out

Hard Lessons in the Importance of Backups: JournalSpace Wiped Out

I’m just reading about this now.  I didn’t use JournalSpace, but I feel very bad for them and for their members who used their service.  Especially since it seems to be due to a disgruntled ex-employee.  But, the fact remains that they should have had backups in place.

I’ve learned first-hand not to rely on RAID as a backup.  I now do incremental backups every night and I do a full backup every week.  And I have my photos and video backed up to DVDs in a fireproof safe.  I do need to make copies of the DVDs for off-site storage, and I need to do that soon.

I hope everyone realizes how important backups are.  Especially people who use a digital camera and store their pictures on their computer.  Disk drives WILL fail, it’s just a question of when.  And when they do, if you don’t have a backup, you’ll lose all your data and pictures.  So, BACKUP YOUR COMPUTER ON A REGULAR BASIS!.

Project 365: A Picture a Day

January 2nd, 2009 · 4 Comments

Yes, I’m going to attempt this project again this year.  The idea is that I take a picture every day for a year.  Why do this?  I have two reasons.  The main reason is to become a better photographer.  How do you get better at something?  Practice.  By forcing myself to use my camera every day, hopefully I will get better at understanding what the camera is capable of and how it works in order to produce the best possible image.  (My first priority is to learn how to use Aperture priority mode.)

The second reason is simply to document a year in my life.  Now, don’t expect to see pictures of my kids every day.  Sure, they’ll be there.  But I’m going to be taking pictures of different things and experimenting a little bit.  So some of you will like the picture that day, and some won’t.  That’s art.  Everyone’s a critic.  But, I’m doing this for me, so I’m the only one who has to be satisfied with the picture.

I’ll be posting the pictures here, as well as on my Flickr account.  I probably won’t post a picture every day; rather, I’ll probably post the photos once a week, so be patient.  I hope you will enjoy going through the year with me through the lens.

spam musubi – now that’s a sushi I would eat.  Yummy!

As a side note:  Isn’t it sad that the man can’t even have lunch without his whole order being reported on and scrutinized?  But, I guess it’s equally sad that I enjoyed reading about his lunch and I’m now posting the link on my blog.  So, two wrongs do make a right.  🙂.
