Intel rethinks Netbooks: ‘Fine for an hour’ but… | Nanotech – The Circuits Blog – CNET News
Maybe Apple is on to something by not releasing a netbook. Maybe they once again are the leaders in design and everyone is going to play catch-up to the Air. It would be cool to have a low-cost “Air” as a second notebook to travel with. This may put pressure on Apple to drastically come down on the price of the Air, once there’s some real competition..

This Umberto Eco piece was mentioned in this week’s TWIT, and I thought it was pretty funny (and true?). It’s from 1994, but I think it’s still relevant today. Here’s a part of the article:
I am firmly of the opinion that the Macintosh is Catholic and that DOS is Protestant. Indeed, the Macintosh is counter-reformist and has been influenced by the ratio studiorum of the Jesuits. It is cheerful, friendly, conciliatory; it tells the faithful how they must proceed step by step to reach — if not the kingdom of Heaven — the moment in which their document is printed. It is catechistic: The essence of revelation is dealt with via simple formulae and sumptuous icons. Everyone has a right to salvation.

I love almost any movie this guy is in. In fact, when Tammy and I started dating again, the movie we went to see on our (second) first date was “Under Siege.” He was grand marshal of the Endymion parade in 1993, and I wanted to see him in person so badly, I almost passed up a trip to Chicago to visit my cousin. I went on the trip, and boy, am I glad I did.
Still, this is pretty cool, because this is the parish I live in, so I’ll see a lot of local sights on national TV. I knew he was a deputy with the JPSO, but I didn’t know he’s been a deputy for 20 years..

Blue Sky Disney: Apple To Ad To Theme Park Experience?
I would hope with Steve Jobs as the largest Disney shareholder and on the board of Disney that Apple would be involved with Disney in some sort of way. And the iPhone and some Disney theme park apps seems a simple way to do this. That’s why I was so shocked with the Verizon announcement earlier this week..

PlaidStallions: Rambling and Reflections on 70s Pop Culture
I would LOVE to have either of these playsets. I can’t believe that I didn’t have them when I was a kid. I guess I just didn’t see them advertised anywhere, because if I had, I definitely would have asked Santa for them.
BTW…The quote in the title of the post is actually from “Smokey & the Bandit” (not the sequel). But I’m nitpicking. 🙂.
