Career: Reasons to Trash or Rewrite Your Resume
One thing in this article struck me: have “a great reputation (you may establish with a blog!).” That may be a good recommendation. If you’re knowledgeable about a subject, why not write about it and help other people? So, when you’re looking for another job, you can include your site in your cover letter/resume/interview and the employer can see that you have the knowledge and a following. Just a thought..

Wal-Mart Wants $10 CDs : Rolling Stone
Saw this on slashdot today. It’s from 2004, but it’s still an interesting article. Two players that I hate: Wal-Mart vs. the recording industry. I don’t know who to root for. It’s a shame they can’t take each other out..

Disney Gossip: Disney Park Parade Rotation coming soon
Parade of Dreams is a great parade. MUCH better than the Share a Dream Come True parade at the MK. And I’m all for moving Fantillusion to the MK and moving SpectroMagic out. Spectro has been at the MK long enough. It’s been running at the MK longer than MSEP (a true classic) ran there. Time for something new..

I, Cringely . The Pulpit . War of the Worlds | PBS
I think he’s right that we need to think differently about technology in schools, and to embrace it as a tool, rather than something to keep out of school. However, I think he’s completely wrong that in the future we won’t have schools as we know them today. I personally think that there needs to be a physical place that children and teens go to learn and be with other people their own age, mainly for the social interaction (this is the issue I have with home schooling).
I think Cringely makes a huge leap by assuming that all kids are equally motivated to learn at a certain pace and can (and will) do so on their own. I’m pretty sure that they aren’t, and teachers are necessary to guide the children down the path to knowledge. Teachers are probably our most valuable resource and the attention and knowledge transfer that they provide is necessary in the lives of everyone.
Embrace technology: yes. But let’s do it wisely..

Interesting findings. I wonder which newspaper will be the first to eliminate or greatly reduce the print edition and go all digital. I say someone does it within the next five years..
